Additional Information: ♦These very popular 2-day (one weekend) classes are given in the "Gordon West" style. This means live, in person lecture (no boring PowerPoint presentation), demonstrations, and a table full of electronic components for you to examine. There will also be live radios in the classroom, and you will be on the air, briefly, and legally, on Saturday morning, even though you do not yet have your license. ♦ There is pre-class study involved, and all needed study material, directions, and hints are included in the cost of the course, shown below. YOU WILL NEED TO STUDY ON YOUR OWN BEFORE CLASS. ♦ We start ON TIME both days at 8 AM, finishing around 5 on Saturday afternoon. If you are not there by 8, we do not wait for you. Sunday afternoon, we finish the class somewhere around 3 to maybe 4 PM, and then the FCC Technician exam is administered. It will be graded right away, and you will have your result before you leave on Sunday. ♦ Class is given in the Cerritos Sheriff's Station, 18135 Bloomfield Avenue, Cerritos, CA 90703. The station is located behind the library, and there is plenty of free parking. Traffic is light both mornings. Sorry, can't say the same for evenings. ♦ Each Tech class we raffle off one amateur hand-held radio, and those who complete the class and pass the exam are automatically entered in the raffle. The radio will be pre-programmed with a few local repeaters, and will be ready to use when you get your call sign. ♦ Refreshments are provided, such as coffee, water, tea, hot chocolate, some pastries, and chips. Sometimes students bring donuts as well. ♦ Cost for the class is now $75, which essentially covers the cost of the facility, study materials, getting them to you, cost of refreshments, and miscellaneous incidental costs, including the raffled radio. ♦ There is an additional $14 exam fee, mandated by W5YI (The VEC), the organization that handles the application process. This fee is collected on Sunday, just before the exam is given. ♦ You can register by sending us a check for $75, made out to "Wynnsradio". Mail the check to Wynnsradio, P.O. Box 3793, Cerritos, CA 90703. We will send you, by return Priority Mail, your study packet with textbook, all needed study materials, and other miscellaneous items as available. I'm sorry, we are not set up to take credit cards. ♦ We strongly recommend that you register as soon as possible, to allow time for pre-class study at a comfortable rate, which is about 30 minutes or so a day. Attaining this license is a major accomplishment, and won't be done overnight. ♦ Any questions or problems, email Wynnsradio@msn.com.
