IC-M700PRO What are my options?

This is my former marine radio station when I was sailing in the Pacific. I have moved to land now, brought the radio with me, but I'm interested in ideas for: 1. A replacement/different radio and/or 2. a different antenna to improve the performance of the M700PRO while land based. I'm using a long wire (like on the boat's backstay), and an AT-130 auto antenna tuner. I'm located on Whidbey Island, Washington State, and have lots of noise and thinking that a different antenna may help with less noise and better performance. Any thoughts? |

A directional antenna may help a bit with the noise though I would first try to evaluate if the noise is coming from a specific source such as a powerline. What does it sound like? I don't think you need a new radio. |
