Four years ago, I asked "Are you in the blog?" Then I went on and explained blogs, why you might want one, and how you could start one for free.

Four years later, I think it is safe to say that most readers of Surfin' know about blogs (if not, click here to read that old installment of Surfin'). Today, there are millions of blogs on the Internet, including a lot of the Amateur Radio variety.

You can find the ham blogs by using your favorite search engine to look up "ham radio blogs" or visit one of the directories of ham radio blogs to find a blog of interest. Here in alphabetical order are three of the directories that are currently up and running:

• Ham & Amateur Radio Blogs -- DL6KAC runs it and claims 443 "active links."

• Planet Ham Radio Amateur Blogs -- I counted 85 blogs in their list.

• The DXZone Blogs -- I counted 166 entries.

Blogs come and go, so I cannot guarantee that you will find everything that the directories list. On the other hand, the directories might surprise you as Ham & Amateur Radio Blogs directory did me when I found it still listed a blog I had abandoned over two years ago. To my surprise, my old blog was still up and running on the net, although I had not written to it since January 2006!

Starting your own blog is easier than ever and still free if you want it to be.
